I can’t believe that I haven’t updated this blog since the Fradley 10km. Saying that I haven’t actually taken part in any organised events so there hasn’t been very much to write about.
Since Fradley I’ve gradually been increasing the number of runs I do as my main aim for this autumn is to complete the Great Birmingham Run on October 20th. I’ve downloaded a training plan which officially starts on July 1st so *fingers and toes crossed* I’ll actually make it to the start line.
I have got a whole range of races before the Great Birmingham Run with the first race, the Bupa London 10,000 next Monday. Hopefully I can beat my time from last year which was a shameful 01:14:33 i.e. the slowest 10 km run I have ever completed by a country-mile.
Following the Bupa London 10,000 I have entered:
Great Midlands Fun Run – June 2nd
Aldridge 10k – June 9th
Shenstone Fun Run – June 23rd
Race for Life Sutton Park – June 29th
Olympic Park Anniversary Run – July 21st
Lichfield 10k – September 8th
I am really looking forward to finally getting to see the Olympic Stadium and running on the track. Hopefully I will actually have some race updates for this blog.
Before all of these exciting events I’m planning on finally returning to my running club for a session tomorrow/Thursday and attending my first parkrun on Saturday morning. I have got the barcode ready all I need now is for someone to drive me the 7 miles to Walsall Arboretum.
Fingers crossed I will finally be making my parkrun debut in the near future!
