Hi Natalie, it’s good to hear some positive feedback about the National Running Show. I’ve already got free tickets for next year so hopefully there will be a few more brands. I think my issue is that I’ve been running for such a long time I’ve already met people like Paula Radcliffe and Jo Pavey

Thanks Maria, the move went really well, I think I definitely made the right decision. I *think* my cough has virtually cleared-up; I’m planning on seeing what happens during a run tomorrow. Although I’ve already got free tickets for next year, unless the Running Show attracts more brands, I’m not going to travel to the NEC next year. Hopefully it will improve each year.

I went to the Running Show (had free tickets) and had a good time. We pre-booked car parking at a nearby hotel so it wasn't as expensive. I met Jo Pavey and had my picture taken with her and her autograph for my collection - just need to get a photo printed of her now to join my wall with Mo Farah and Paula Radcliffe! Some of the talks were inspiring and educational. My fiance got a good deal on a pair of Vibram Five Fingers (strange looking things) so he ended up spending more than I did, and he isn't much of a runner! Got a few small freebies and it was a decent way to spend a few hours in the morning. I've already got free tickets for next year's event.

Hope the move goes well.
Recovering is more important right now so just take the time to rest and you'll get back into it once you are better.
The Running show doesn't really appeal- I imagine it being crowded and busy and stressful.

I've seen quite a few negative reviews; mainly about the cost of parking, lack of big brands and layout of the show. The thought of a giant expo doesn't really tempt me, I escaped the London Marathon Expo as quickly as I could last time. I'm feeling a bit better thanks, I'm reasonably confident I'll be able to run at some point this week. I hope you're back running soon x

Thanks D. I've packed all my junk; now it's just a matter of dragging my case 500m down the road. Once two people moved into the room next to me it was game over, I had to move somewhere better. I'm no longer aiming for a PR, just to get round the half marathon in one piece and to enjoy some of the more scenic parts of London.

I didn't go to the Running Show this year. I heard it was a lot better than last year but it's still basically a giant expo... not sure I'm that keen!
Hope you're feeling better - take the time to recover and don't stress. You're a solid runner.

Good luck on the move! And no, I’ve never missed a significant amount of time for training...except when I broke my toe a few weeks in and wanted to still race 8 weeks later...but as long as you’re running a few times a week, you should be able to run the race...just maybe not PR
