I spent most of the day feeling like I was faking it. From listening to other people in the office, I know I'm not alone and some quite senior female colleagues feel like they are about to be 'found out' and aren't as confident as they appear. I love the Action for Happiness app. Work have just paid for people to have access to Headscape which is another great app. I can't wait to have a go at the new parkrun in Lichfield. MY knee isn't very happy at the moment so I suspect I'll volunteer there before I'm able to run it.

Thanks for taking the time to comment TT :-) I think I definitely experienced imposter syndrome during my PhD. I was surrounded by really intelligent, confident research students and academics and I felt like I was completely out of my depth. Since leaving academia I've spoken to people who experienced the same sort of feelings so I know it's common, especially in female academics. I've had some CBT sessions through work but think I need some more. Writing my blogs does help as I'm better at writing things down (sometimes!) than talking to people.

Hey- sending you a virtual hug; sorry that you are feeling fearful so often. You may have already heard of this, but a lot of the fear you feel might be related to impostor syndrome? https://time.com/5312483/how-to-deal-with-impostor-syndrome/
Sometimes, people work with counselors to work through this. I know this might not be at all what you are experiencing so just disregard if it's not relevant to you- I just wanted to say I support you and thank you for sharing the small ways you find happiness as well as the areas that are more frustrating!

I think the feeling of being out of your depth is normal (at least I hope it is, because I constantly feel like that at work- I think I followed the fake it until you make it, and am wondering when I make it...)- so follow 13th advice which was be kind to yourself when you make a mistake. I had to take part in leading a training day last autumn, and I was dreading it, particularly as I was doing it with the deputy head who is so confident and knows her stuff, but in fact I survived! Is there any way you can collaborate with someone on the course?
I love the action for happiness calendar but I didn't know they had an app- I have downloaded it now, so thanks for that.
That's such great news about a local parkrun for you! I think I have loads of events near me compared to some and although their numbers are going up it's not as crazy as some.
