The first time I did it I messed up as we had someone run through the finish who wasn't part of parkrun. To be fair we both messed up and it was quite easy to fix. The second time, I knocked my phone screen and had an extra runner. Luckily I spotted what had happened so the extra finisher was removed from the results. The third place I think was okay. I'm not doing it again unless the Core Team are desperate, loads of the juniors seem to enjoy time keeping. There are a lot of DoE volunteers which means the finish area roles get filled up quickly as they have to be supervised by an adult. I think I'm tail walking this weekend if parkrun goes ahead. I don't mind tail walking as I want to reach 50 parkruns this year.
I'm yet to run this week but will hopefully head out when I've finished work later. I'm trying to ignore the fact it's windy, again!

Timekeeping is so stressful, avoid it at all costs if you can! Some people love it, I'm not one of those people. I also like being near the finish area as I enjoy seeing people finish and the general 'buzz' around the finish area. Marshalling can get quite lonely and boring on a single lap course. I'm meant to be tail walking on Saturday but have no idea who I've been paired with. If it's someone quiet it can be a bit of a struggle.

I too would choose anything over timekeeping- I did that once and it was so stressful! I like barcode scanning too, although I've not done that for ages as it seems to fill up so quickly. I think tail walking is tops for me, and I do like being a marshal too as you get to cheer everyone on.
And you did 8 mins, so 10 mins is a small step and you can do it- think positively! I think runs will always be good or bad, and sometimes there's no reason so just try to draw a line under it and start afresh each time. The wind at the moment is awful though- when will it stop????

I can't take the pressure of timekeeping either! lol ...and barcode scanning my favourite! I like to be close to the finish line rather than have to walk out to a marshalling spot hahaha!
