Hi Ian, thanks for reading and for commenting on my running blog. I’ll be sure to check out your running blog. Although I managed to twist my left knee, my run this morning went well. I’m feeling confident I’ll be able to complete the 5k on Sunday. Then I’m planning on following the 80/20 approach to build up my running mileage.

Thanks Derek, I really do appreciate all your support. Let’s just say I picked a flatter, less breezy route this morning and didn’t feel the urge to shout at the wind. It looks like it may be windy again at the weekend so I’ll pick my route carefully. Yes, the job situation isn’t ideal but I'm in a better position than a lot of people. I still have no idea what’s happening and when my contract will end. My line manager and other managers want me to stay as the organisation is desperately short of hydrologists with my amount of experience. It’s just a matter of a lack of funding in the public sector. There are jobs out there, so I need to get my CV up to date and submit some applications.

Thanks Maria, let’s just say I picked a more sheltered route this morning and managed to avoid having a mini meltdown and shouting at the wind. My job situation is a bit of a nightmare; the uncertainty is the biggest problem for me as I like to know what’s happening. My line manager and his line manager want me to stay as I have loads of experience and the organisation is desperately short of hydrologists. I just can’t see it happening as public sector budgets are about to be cut. I’ve spotted a few jobs while I’ve been looking so it’s not as if there’s nothing out there at all. I always feel guilty when I see the police, like I’ve done something wrong even though I’m the most boring person I know. I made the mistake of mentioning the police to my mum, she’s now worried about me running so early in the morning.

The wind does make it tough to run it- well done!
That's rubbish about your job- good luck with finding something else.
I've not been stopped by the police while running, but Andy and I were walking in a park on holiday and got stopped by police asking us if we heard screaming (we hadn't)- that was a bit unnerving!

Great determination and success Emma! Battling the wind can feel disheartening, like swimming against the tide and getting nowhere quickly. I am hill averse but am trying slowly to overcome this. And wind and hills combined - not my cup of tea!
Sorry to hear about the job situation. I hope you will find something soon. Good luck for this the final week - I look forward to hearing a successful outcome.

Congratulations on your progress so far. Try not to worry about injury too much. You’ve still got plenty in the bank even if the worst happens.

I’ve done a bit on my blog with tips for beginners. Here’s the link
