In reply to <a href="https://thephdrunner.com/2020/12/31/2020-review-running-highlights-lessons-learned/#comment-3747">Hope</a>.

Thanks Hope. I hope that you have a healthy 2021. I must admit my year has got off to a somewhat lazy start but this leaves me with a lot of room for improvement. My contract doesn’t end until September so in theory I have plenty of time to find something else. I think the main problem is that I still don’t know what I want to do when I grow up!

The NYC Subway Runs Challenges sounds awesome. I had no idea how long the subways are so I just checked out the challenge. Wow! I love the medal on the site. I can tell I’m going to regret my ‘no spend’ challenge this year...

I really hope that you get to finish the 2021 Manchester Marathon in under 4 hours, uninjured with a smile on your face. You can do it! I’m a big believer in trying to run with a smile on my face. The problem is I end up looking like I’m grimacing and running in pain.

Happy New Year x

Yes, I think getting through 2020 was probably my biggest achievement and definitely worth celebrating. At times it felt like 2020 was never going to end but I now find myself finding it hard to believe it’s 2021.

Some people are so rude and continue to be rude. I’m avoiding twitter now as I can’t believe how rude some people are. I’m not sure what happened to #bekind and just scrolling past something if you have nothing to add to a discussion.

I love discovering new places and have realised there are parts of Four Oaks I’ve not explored. I think one of the best parts of the Couch to 5k was getting to explore new roads and running routes. There are whole areas of Sutton Park I don’t know very well and want to explore when the weather improves.

Here’s to a healthy and happy 2021!

I hope you have a healthy 2021! Good luck with your goals for the new year, and fingers for the side hustles and job search after your contract ends.

My sister lives in New York City, and she put me on the NYC Subway Runs Challenges--a distance challenge to complete runs of various lengths relating to the subway system. Completing the first one and getting halfway through the second one were running highlights for me.

I'd love to finish the 2021 Manchester Marathon uninjured and with a smile on my face and ideally in under 4 hours. We shall see.

Happy New Year and all best wishes!

This year has been so hard- especially for people who live alone, so I think just making it through the year is something to celebrate, and don't worry about missed races or injuries or anything else.
I also cannot believe how rude some people are (the PR, the parkrun people, etc.).
I suppose as a highlight for me it would be finding new trails and paths close to where I live and eventually going on the new centenary walk that goes around the town. It was lovely to discover new places.
