Juneathon Day 1

Before starting the Juneathon challenge I braved the scales. The months of snacking and unhealthy eating while I’ve been studying have resulted in me weighing 80.3 kg. According to the NHS I have a BMI of 24.7, just within the healthy range.

It’s time for me to take control of my diet.

As I completed the Great Midlands Fun Run on Sunday, I always knew that I wouldn’t be rushing out for a run on the first day of Juneathon. Since the stress fracture saga last year I always avoid running the day after a race. As I didn’t want to fail Juneathon on the first day, I dusted off my copy of the Jillian Michaels ’30 Days Shred’ DVD.

Twenty-five minutes and level one (with some of minor adjustments) of the 30 Day Shred later, I was reminded of how unfit I am at the moment. I was still doing my ‘Larry the Lobster’ impression over an hour later when I was sat on the train heading down to London.

My attempts at increasing the amount I exercise continued when I reached London. Rather than catching a tube train at Euston Square, I walked the short distance to my friend’s apartment near Baker Street.

Although I ended up drinking a bottle of Crabbie’s and half a bottle of red wine last night, my evening meal of steak served with rocket and parmesan salad was an improvement on what I usually eat.

So as it’s clear that my Juneathon challenge has got off to a slow and steady start, I’m looking forward to seeing my fitness levels increase during June.

Good luck! I’ve just started doing Juneathon too. The sensible thing would’ve been to take ‘before’ stats like you’ve done, but of course I have miserably failed to do that.

Thanks for the comment and good luck with Juneathon. You can still take ‘before’ stats, it’s only Day 2. I suspect that I’ve already put on weight after eating loads yesterday and today!

Well done on taking up the challenge, I would weigh myself but frankly I would rather not know !

Thanks Sam! Hopefully weighing myself will give me an extra incentive to complete the challenge.
